EVANESCENCE BAND MEMBER HISTORY
Information pertaining to band is featured as May 2007 and back only.
Amy Lee, front-woman of the band, was born on December 13th. Amy is usually responsible for vocals and piano, as well as composing and writing lyrics for the band.

Amy also enjoys painting and drawing, some of which can be seen in her online journal via their official site.

During her work with Ev, Amy has only collaborated with one other artist so far - Seether. The collaboration produced a hit single remake of one of Seether's existing songs, ''Broken,'' and the track was used in the motion picture, Marvel's ''The Punisher.''

Terry Balsamo plays lead / rhythm guitar, switching on and off with John. He was once part of the band known as ''Cold'' and joined Evanescence after both bands experienced hardship within themselves.

In fall 2005, Terry experienced a seizure and has since then undergone physical therapy. Terry is making a steady, successful recovery.

Tim McCord is the current live performing bassist for the band. He took on the position after previous bassist, Will Boyd, left in mid-2006. Tim's only work with the band thus far includes live performances, as Will recorded for the sophomore album himself prior to his leave. Tim was recognized as an official band member in Fall 2006, making his first official appearance in various promotional photos as well as in the video for ''Lithium.''

Prior to Evanescence, Tim held positions in many bands: Double Think, Rings of Saturn, The Revolution Smile [ guitar ] and Quitter [ bass & keyboards ].


John LeCompt was born on March 10th, and was usually responsible for both rhythm and lead guitar. He also took part in composition and writing, not to mention background vocals for live performances, such as ''Bring Me To Life.''

Previously the front-man in a band called ''Mindrage,'' John has taken on numerous projects, such as ''Kill System'' and ''Soul Embraced'' - both alongside Rocky. Currently, the two of them have yet another side project band named ''Mourningside'' and have recently joined Phil Tayler [ previously of Future Leaders Of the World ], Jack Wiese [ Mourningside, the.5th.element ] and Thad Ables as ''Machina.'' John took his official leave from Evanescence in May 2007.

Rocky Gray was born on July 2nd, was usually responsible for drums, but wrote and composed as well. Rocky's infamous for his sketches and drawings, trademarks such as a bat or skulls that accompany his autograph at times.

Rocky is also a talented guitarist, and was in another band called ''Living Sacrifice'' prior to being in bands called ''Soul Embraced'' and ''Kill System'' with John. Rocky also just recently started a new band called ''The Burning.'' You can check out their progress at their official page. Rocky took his official leave from Evanescence in May 2007.

Will Boyd

, a.k.a William James Boyd ''Esquire, III'' was born on April 27th, and although he contributed to many songs even prior to ''Fallen,'' he was publically recognized as a full-time member in 2003. He was usually responsible for the bass and proper concert survival etiquette for the band before his official leave in Spring/Summer 2006. Although Will left prior to the release of the band's sophomore record, ''The Open Door,'' Will still contributed to it.

Prior to Evanescence, Will previously played with a band called ''The Visitors,'' and now plays for ''Two Spines.''
Ben Moody

was the front-man of the band prior to his leave in October 2003, born on January 2nd, 1980. He and Amy produced many tracks together prior to ''Fallen,'' and he was primarily responsible for lead guitar, as well as programming, composing and writing lyrics. Ben also played drums for various songs, as well as live performances [ ''Farther Away'' ]. Ben took his leave just after the release of Ev's third single, ''My Immortal,'' and the European stretch of their world tour for personal reasons.

Ben now assists a variety of artists in collaborations along with David Hodges, such as Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. Bo Bice and Lindsay Lohan have also been added to Ben's growing list of collaborations, as well as with his hit single, ''Everything Burns'' - a duet with Anastacia. Amy Lee, Ben Moody + David Hodges

Evanescence originally consisted of three members. Aside Ben and Amy, the third member was David Hodges, who was responsible for keyboard / piano, programming, composing and lyrics. Due to creative differences, David left the band to pursue a different route, though he assists the band every now and then.
